Autocad Civil 3d 2012
This was the era when Autodesk began teasing the potential of cloud computing. Civil 3D 2012 offered integration with (the precursor to AutoCAD 360), allowing engineers to upload drawings to the cloud for viewing and light editing on mobile devices. This was the first step toward the "work from anywhere" paradigm that is standard today.
Corridor modeling—the backbone of road design—saw major upgrades. The software improved how assemblies (cross-sections) interacted with targets. This allowed for more complex road designs, including variable lane widths and dynamic daylighting (slopes that adjust to the terrain). These enhancements allowed engineers to model complex intersections and interchanges with far less frustration than previous iterations. autocad civil 3d 2012
